In a bid to ease out the burden for an upgrade of core infrastructure and preventive services, TANGEDCO has notified a scheduled power cut for some quarters of West Chennai on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The outage will last for five hours and will affect predominantly industrial nodes and some residential neighborhoods. This follows a week of heavy service work, and places in the city including Thirumudivakkam, Karambakkam have experienced significant outages and there were similar outages on Friday and Saturday, reports said.

- Timing: 09:00 AM to 02:00 PM
- Reason: Essential maintenance work and infrastructure upgrades by TANGEDCO.
List of Affected Areas
Unlike weekday shutdowns that tend to blanket part of town, the Sunday outage is concentrated. These include the power suspension expected around the following areas:
1. Ambattur (Residential):
- TI Cycle 3rd Main Road
- 6th Street to 9th Street
2. Ambattur Industrial Estate:
- Mahatma Gandhi Road (4th, 5th, 6th, 11th and 12th Streets)
- Kamaraj Nagar Main Road
- SIDCO Industrial Estate
- Railway Station Road (5th, 6th and 7th Streets)
TANGEDCO also provides assurance to residents that if the maintenance work is performed early, power supply will be restored immediately before the 2:00 PM mark.
