A brutal act of alleged police brutality emerged from a village in Chikkaballapur, where a tea vendor reportedly was attacked by a police inspector. That attack, which was on social media after the video was uploaded, is in the Kannamangala village in Devanahalli taluk, and it has stirred up considerable outrage.
The officer being charged is Inspector Rakesh, who is with the Devanahalli police station. The incident was reported a few months prior, but only surfaced in the wake of the video going viral. The inaudible images are also accused of showing the inspector physically attacking a young tea stall worker with a baton.
The incident was witnessed at a small tea shop alongside the national highway passing through Kannamangala village, and the claimant claims it was associated with the incident. The worker opened the stall early in the morning, around 4 AM, so that he could make some tea for clients. Such early hours are not exactly unusual for roadside tea vendors, especially those selling to travellers and commuters.

Then trouble broke out there as the police inspector and his team got there. The officer apparently confronted the worker for what appeared to be no particular reason for running the shop at that hour, the authorities said. Eyewitnesses said the inspector yanked the worker out of the shop, and the inspector allegedly began beating him when the worker begged and pleaded for leniency.
The inspector continues to strike as if to show hostility and power, while the worker is allegedly telling the officer not to strike him multiple times. Other people were shocked and frightened, and even a few people had come to drink tea to see it happening. An impression has been made of the participation by other police officers in it that the scene has been a reflection of.
It’s unclear whether they did anything on the ground or weren’t involved, but they are blamed for who holds them criminally accountable and what they did in the name of the cause. But this video aroused outrage on a grand scale, and many groups did try to get down in front of our judge to ensure the officer was disciplined.
Activists and citizens, meanwhile, have condemned the use of excessive force and specifically referred to a young worker taking one of whose jobs he has earned while working. The police department is reportedly aware of the incident and is currently contemplating discipline due to the backlash. Officials have said an internal inquiry will be conducted to establish the facts and to assign responsibility.
A much more bitter tragedy to the legitimacy of law enforcement with regard to police action, as they lacked training, accountability, and a law enforcement code of conduct. While having law enforcement protect public order is among the foremost responsibilities within law enforcement, situations like these do not develop that level of public trust, let alone make an impact on preventing abuse of power.
