Tourist misbehavior has once again raised concerns in Karnataka’s coffee-growing district, with a group of tourists in the city’s coffee industry causing another disturbance on a public road late at night. The incident was reported near Golf Road on the outskirts of Chikkamagaluru City, where tourists pulled a tempo traveller to the middle of the road and celebrated loudly.
Some 20 to 30 tourists gathered at night along the roadside during the midnight hours and played loud music through speakers while dancing on the road, according to local news. The incident was reported by local residents.
The tourists arrived in a tempo traveller and stopped the vehicle on the road before starting their late-night celebration. The group had a microphone and loudspeaker and continued dancing by the roadside. Loud music and shouting disturbed the peace of the surrounding neighborhood.
Residents were particularly upset at the presence of high-volume speakers during the late-night hours. A large group of tourists shouting and dancing in a residential area was said to make people living nearby feel uncomfortable.
Residents have expressed concern over tourists violating basic public etiquette while visiting Chikkamagaluru. The district is one of Karnataka’s most popular tourist destinations and attracts visitors throughout the year with coffee plantations, hills, waterfalls, trekking routes, and beautiful landscapes.
But the increasing number of tourists has also led to traffic, waste, noise pollution, and irresponsible behavior in some tourist-heavy areas. In residential areas, residents have repeatedly asked for visitors to respect the surroundings and follow the rules.
The most recent incident took place within the jurisdiction of Basavanahalli Police Station. Residents criticized tourists for trying to have a late-night celebration on a public road, questioning the need for such behavior.
