A Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) team led by Saurav Das conducted a social audit of Schools of Eminence in Ludhiana, Punjab, as part of the organisation’s ongoing ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign. The audit focused on infrastructure, cleanliness, basic facilities and other essential parameters that directly affect the learning environment for students and teachers.
The team evaluated the schools on 20 parameters to see how well facilities were working. Although the audit highlighted some good aspects of the Schools of Eminence, it also highlighted maintenance and infrastructure-related issues that must be addressed in a timely manner.
Saurav Das said the team was impressed with the overall functioning of the schools visited. Of course, most of the parameters that were assessed during the social audit were found to be satisfactory. The inspection also enabled the team to identify what could be improved to further enhance the facilities being provided to students.
But the team noted a few maintenance-related problems during its visit. Das on X shared a video showing classrooms where students and teachers were actively participating in regular academic activities. In addition to these wonderful scenes, we also witnessed damage or peeling of walls, accumulated debris and waste, and basic toilet facilities.
The observations have made us realize the need for regular maintenance in a system that otherwise does well for infrastructure and education. The clean toilets, well-kept classrooms, and hygienic buildings are all part of the school environment for students.

Findings Shared With Punjab Education Minister
After the inspection, the CJP team approached Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains to share the findings from its social audit. Das said the minister agreed to meet the team and was briefed about the issues observed at the schools.
The team was seeking immediate action to address the deficiencies observed in the inspection. Das said the education minister assured the team that action would be taken quickly.
The meeting comes as government school infrastructure continues to be a major issue in education quality discussion. Academic performance and modern learning facilities are important, but the school buildings and essential facilities are also a significant part of an educational environment for students.
The CJP audit has revealed a mixed picture. The team appreciated the Schools of Eminence performance on most of the 20 parameters. On the other hand, the maintenance problems observed during the inspection point to areas where better work is needed.
What is The School Thik Karo Campaign?
The inspection was conducted under CJP’s ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, which aims to assess the state of government schools and bring infrastructure and basic-facility concerns to the attention of authorities.
