Customs officials conducted an urgent and synchronized operation at the airport. They seized 22 kilograms of ganja in two separate cases. The drugs were being smuggled into Bengaluru from international locations. The officers followed accurate information, which enabled them to seize the suspects before this contraband could be transported further.

Two people were arrested in connection with the smuggling attempt.

  • Rajashree had travelled from Thailand to Bengaluru. She was discovered with 10 kilograms of ganja in her luggage.
  • Choudhary had arrived from Bangkok to Bengaluru. He was found to have 12 kilograms of ganja.

Both suspects were detained immediately after the contraband was discovered.

After the seizure, customs officials surrendered the accused to the airport police. A formal complaint was filed at the police station of Kempegowda International Airport. Police have since assumed the investigation in order to find out more and discover what is actually behind the drugs, who the intended recipients are and if there is a bigger network at play.

The operation is notable because it illustrates how the international drug trafficking routes are being used to focus on Indian cities. As a major hub, Bengaluru is susceptible to such attempts. The rapid actions of the customs department prevented a big shipment of narcotics being allowed into the local market.

Police work on airport investigations is ongoing. They will interrogate the accused to see if anyone else is involved in a smuggling ring. Authorities are also to ramp up security and surveillance to reduce the chance of such incidents happening again.

The capture of 22 kilograms of ganja at Kempegowda Airport is another proof of the ongoing battle against drug smuggling. Thanks to the vigilance of customs officials, a significant smuggling operation was thwarted. Given the police’s lead role in the case, it is anticipated more about the network of traffickers behind this crime will be unearthed. This incident brings into focus how important is the cooperation between customs and law enforcement agencies in safeguarding society at large.
