A textile boutique named Devansh Designer Boutique in Vidyaranyapura has come under fire after several women accused it of cheating them in the name of fashion designer courses. The students allege that the boutique collected lakhs of rupees in fees but failed to deliver proper training.
According to complaints, the boutique charged ₹50,000 for weekend classes, ₹80,000 for a one‑week course, and an additional ₹40,000 for a photo shoot after the course period. Students claim they were only taught basic blouse designs in standard sizes, with no instruction on body‑size stitching or advanced techniques. Nearly 30 women say they paid large sums but received little in return. Although the course was supposed to last 2.5 months, even after seven months they insist no meaningful training was provided. Many are now demanding refunds.
The controversy has deepened with the boutique opening another branch in Mysuru, which students fear may repeat the alleged fraudulent practices.
Owner’s Response
In the midst of growing anger, Devansh Boutique has strongly denied the allegations. The management insists that they have not cheated anyone and that the accusations are baseless. “We have not committed fraud. These are false claims being made against us,” the boutique stated in its defense. The owners argue that the courses were conducted as promised and that the complaints are exaggerated.
By stressing their innocence, the boutique is attempting to counter the wave of criticism and protect its reputation. However, with dozens of students demanding justice and refunds, the matter continues to stir public debate in Bengaluru’s fashion and education circles.
