A jaw-dropping murder case has appeared in Karnataka’s Gadag district after a woman was accused of murdering her husband after a domestic quarrel in their house.
The incident occurred in Redder Naganur village of Nargund taluk and has sent residents into a panic. The dead man is Vishwanath Hadimani (29), and the suspect is his wife, Kavita, who is currently in the custody of the police. Long-standing marital problems between the couple are believed to have led to the brutal crime, early police investigations said.
Police said the couple’s marriage had been finalised in 2022, after dating. However, they found their marriage had allegedly been troubled from the start, due to repeated disagreements and misunderstandings. Despite attempts by the family members to bring the couple together, tensions as well reportedly only grew later.
Investigators said Kavita only went back to her husband’s house about 15 days ago after staying away for some time. Locals and relatives say the relationship continued to strain even after she returned. It was said that this kind of argument reportedly erupted between the couple on Tuesday night.
In the struggle, Kavita reportedly battered Vishwanath with an iron rod in their bedroom. The attack inflicted a terrible blow to the head, causing him to die on the spot. On Wednesday afternoon, the horrifying incident reportedly broke when neighbours and relatives became aware of unusual silence from the house and reported it to the officers.
News broke, and police stormed the area and found Vishwanath dead in the house. Officials from Nargund Police Station launched immediately into an investigation, which took suspect Kavita into custody for questioning.
The police are now trying to figure out when exactly what happened, and whether the murder was premeditated or an outburst of rage that ensued during the domestic quarrel. Vishwanath Hadimani’s body was then shifted for postmortem examination, while more forensic investigation is in progress.
Family members, neighbours, and other witnesses' statements are being recorded in connection with the investigation, police officials said. The incident has astonished the people in Redder Naganur village, who are not able to believe the bad news.
Cases including domestic disputes that turn into violent crimes have been on the rise, and the importance of counselling and intervening earlier in troubled relationships. There is a complaint submitted to the Nargund police station, and an investigation is currently pending.
