The incident, which occurred late Monday night on January 19, 2026, has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting a disturbing trend of extreme violence in domestic disputes.

The Fatal Flavor: How a Meal Turned Violent

According to police reports and family testimonies, the conflict began around 11:00 PM. Vipin, a worker at a local private factory, had reportedly requested his wife, Isha, to prepare egg curry for dinner. What started as a verbal disagreement over the meal choice quickly spiraled out of control.

While the couple’s mother, Geeta, initially ignored the shouting as a routine marital spat, the situation turned critical around 1:00 AM. In a fit of uncontrollable rage, Isha allegedly attacked Vipin, biting his tongue with such force that the front portion was severed entirely.

Conflicting Accounts:

  • The Victim's Side: Vipin’s mother claimed that Isha used her teeth to "tear away" the tongue, though she also mentioned the possible use of a kitchen knife in a secondary statement to the media.
  • The Accused's Version: Isha reportedly told the police that she acted in a "fit of rage" and did not intend the injury to be so severe, though she admitted to the act.

Emergency Response and Medical Status

Bleeding profusely and unable to speak, Vipin ran to his mother for help. His family acted quickly, collecting the severed piece of his tongue and rushing him to a private hospital in Modinagar. Given the severity of the injury, doctors referred him to Subharti Hospital in Meerut for specialized reconstructive surgery.

Medical experts state that while they are attempting to reattach the severed tissue, the likelihood of Vipin regaining full speech or taste functions remains uncertain. He is currently under heavy sedation and is unable to record a formal statement.

Legal Action and Arrest

The Modinagar Police have moved swiftly, arresting Isha under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

"The accused is in judicial custody. Preliminary investigations suggest both individuals may have been under significant emotional stress, and we are also looking into claims regarding alcohol consumption during the incident," stated a senior police official.

The morning after the arrest, the situation grew even more tense as families from both sides reportedly engaged in a physical scuffle outside the police station, requiring further police intervention to maintain order.
