A shocking accident occurred Tuesday morning at the Haveri Bus Stand when a very fast bus swerved onto the platform and collided with people waiting for their bus, severely injuring a toddler and seriously injuring four others. And in the early morning rush, at 7 am while commuters waited for their bus for the first time at the bus terminus, many people looking out looked out and the bus driver was driving really fast and struck them.
People ran to safety just as the bus went into the platform area. One of those who suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident was a child named Hazrath Ali (KIMS, Hubballi Institute of Medical Sciences). Doctors have stated that his condition is critical. But there have been multiple casualties in this accident and everyone we speak of are recovering from it and have been sent back to the hospital.
Initial reports indicate the accident is due to poor driving, and if the bus was moving too fast, the bus driver was driving with a broken left leg at that point. So I am sure a lot of mistakes were made in this. The car crash happened on TV and when people were trying to hide themselves when the bus crashed into the crowd this made everybody very excited and also caused a panic.
Video evidence could help to decipher how things happened in the sequence at this stage and how responsible people actually were. Police officials have taken action in relation to the incident and have an opportunity to hold a case against the driver now if they have evidence at this stage.
Those stops around the bus are really high priorities, but the majority do not take proper precautions so a safety breach like this in public, on a busy street around one of the most dangerous sectors in the city where it operates or not is very high in the road safety situation. Now the authorities really have to do better, and the safer you are (your road, traffic, people around you) the better it will be.
