The Hyderabad Police's Charminar Zone Task Force, in cooperation with Saifabad Police, arrested three individuals for illegally procuring and selling Mephentermine Sulphate injections.
The possession of 100 Mephentermine Sulphate Injection (10 ml) vials, a Yamaha Aerox scooter, and three mobile phones were seized from the suspects.
The operation was conducted on July 29, 2026, after the Task Force received credible intelligence of the illegal transportation and sale of the prescription drug. Police, after receiving the tip-off, intercepted the suspects at Shree Maruti Logistics, next to the HP Petrol Pump lane in Saifabad Police Station. The injections were being transported on a Yamaha Aerox scooter when they were caught.
The accused were involved in the unauthorized procurement and sale of Mephentermine Sulphate injections prescription medicines the investigators found. They found that the injections had been illegally obtained using a transporter from a seller in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Shakti Huda.
Police think the suspects were selling the injections to customers at inflated prices to make illegal profits. Now police are tracking the supply chain to find out who else is in the network and what’s the true scope of the illegal distribution racket.
Mephentermine Sulphate is a prescription drug mainly used for hypotension (low blood pressure) in hospitals, especially in surgical procedures and emergency medical situations.
But health professionals say that it is increasingly being used outside the medical community as a stimulant or performance-enhancing substance.
Mephentermine without proper medical treatment can be life-threatening, medical professionals say. Failure to take the drug can lead to serious cardiovascular problems such as high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, cardiac arrest, and other life-threatening issues.

Police have advised the public especially young people not to take stimulant medicine without a prescription and the supervision of a qualified doctor.
Pharmacies, distributors, and transporters were also reminded that the unauthorized sale or movement of prescription medicines is prohibited in violation of drug control regulations and can attract severe legal action and consequences.
The successful operation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector S. Saidababu of the Charminar Zone Task Force.
The raid was carried out by Sub-Inspectors M. Madhu, K. Rama Rao, and M. Mahesh, and Police Constable K. Santosh Kumar of the Charminar Zone Task Force and the Saifabad Police Station.
Police have also confirmed further investigation is underway to identify more suppliers, transporters, and buyers in the illegal drug distribution network.
They also asked citizens to report suspicious activities related to the sale of prescription medicines and to only buy medicines from licensed pharmacies with a valid doctor's prescription.
