A headmaster in Nawada’s Anandpura area has been accused of inappropriate behaviour and sexual misconduct by several female students.
Students from classes 6, 7 and 8 have made complaints to the school and other girls have spoken up about the teacher.
The headmaster has allegedly spoken to them in an inappropriate manner and touched them without their consent.
Students have come forward together and described different incidents that they say took place on the school premises.
The school bathroom is one of the allegations among them. In one case, a student told us that the headmaster would look into the bathroom area and it was dangerous to the safety and privacy of students.
Another student claimed the headmaster would pull students’ hair, force them to sit on his lap and touch them inappropriately on different parts of their bodies.
A student told me about one incident in which she said she was going to drink water when the headmaster called her out of his cabin. She said he then forced her to sit on his lap and put his hand on her chest.
Another allegation was that she arrived late to an examination, the student said. While she was in the process of taking the question paper, she said the headmaster touched her cheek.
In addition to this, several other girls have also made allegations against the headmaster, raising fears over what the students with whom the school is based could be at risk.

The allegations have raised serious questions about the responsibility of school authorities to provide children with a safe environment.
Schools are expected to maintain appropriate boundaries between teachers and students and ensure that complaints involving children are handled promptly and sensitively.
If the allegations involve schoolchildren, any investigation would need to protect the identity and privacy of those children involved while establishing the facts through due process.
Statements from students, school administrators, parents and any officials would be crucial to determine what actually happened.
If the allegations are proven through investigation, the consequences could be substantial legal and disciplinary.
Yet these accusations should be distinct from the evidence until an official inquiry or competent authority reaches a conclusion.
The incident also reinforced the need for effective complaint mechanisms in schools. Students should have safe channels through which they can report inappropriate behaviour without fear of intimidation or retaliation.
Parents and school authorities also have a role to play in making sure that complaints involving minors are met with appropriate attention.
Any action will be taken in light of the findings made by the relevant authorities and applicable law.
The immediate priority is the safety, privacy and well-being of the students making the allegations.
