Chaos erupted at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Devanahalli, as a large group of passengers, primarily those booked on an Indigo flight to Varanasi, were left stranded and facing major inconvenience due to a sudden flight cancellation.
The ordeal began late last night and continued into the morning as distressed passengers struggled for information and assistance.
Frustration Over Sudden Cancellation and Lack of Communication
About 22 passengers who were scheduled to fly to Varanasi expressed extreme anger after their flight was abruptly cancelled early in the morning without adequate notice.
- Long Queues: Passengers were seen standing in long queues in front of the Indigo counters, attempting to get their tickets cancelled or rescheduled.
- No Information: The primary source of frustration was the lack of timely and proper communication from the airline staff. Despite waiting for hours in the cold, passengers alleged that airline personnel were unresponsive and failed to provide clear details regarding alternative arrangements.
- Airline Indifference: Passengers vented their frustration, stating that airline staff were indifferent and failed to respond adequately to their distress, leaving them to struggle in the chilly late-night and early-morning air.
Outrage Over Exorbitant Airport Prices
Adding to the inconvenience, passengers strongly criticized the exorbitant prices for basic necessities within the airport premises:
"We are being charged ₹70 for a half bottle of water and ₹250 for a masala dosa. We are stranded here without proper communication and forced to pay these outrageous prices," stated one agitated traveller.
The stranded passengers have demanded immediate action against Indigo Airlines for the poor handling of the situation and the immense stress and financial burden caused by the last-minute cancellation.
