The initial accounts said fire had apparently spread to a parking or depot area, where several intercity buses were parked. The fire spread and consumed nearby vehicles within minutes as nearby parking and highly combustible materials inside the buses carried the flame.

Thick and black smoke and towering flames roared up from the site, and residents and passersby dialled for emergency services. Early on, the fire services came to the area and opened an immediate firefighting response to control the fire flow. Officials say several fire engines were deployed, though others were deployed to put out the fire.

Firefighters combated the flames for hours, too, as fuel tanks and tyres exploded further disrupting their work. Several buses were said to have been taken out of service during the attack. Others were partly damaged. The area surrounding them was covered in images of burnt vehicle frames and heavy smoke.

The number of destroyed vehicles was never known. Police officials estimated some initial losses to transport operators. Now, thank goodness, no major casualties have been reported as of now, at least. Officials continue to work diligently to investigate whether workers, drivers or staff were at the site at the time it ignited the blaze.

Law enforcement and firefighters are investigating the cause of these fires, but law enforcement continues to investigate why there remains a question of what they are. The first suspicion is a short circuit or some sort of fault, but the investigators don’t rule out the possibility of anything else. Emergency personnel temporarily diverted the street traffic in the area.

Neighbourhood residents clustered along the perimeter, and firefighters laboured hard to extinguish the flames. Transport agents are also weighing whether plans to connect future buses to highways will be affected by the fire, as many intercity bus lines can be impacted by damage to vehicles.

Petrol storage and electric systems, and tight parking spaces, become targets of fire incidents with parked commercial vehicles that tend to escalate. In transport depots, regular physical examinations as well as fire safety work are needed in order to prevent any disaster, experts say. After cooling has finished, a technical inspection is required, the officials reported. There should be information about the fire’s cause and loss released after the investigation is finished.
