The quarrel itself resulted from a marriage crisis involving the daughter in law and husband’s family. Video clips spread quickly through the community, touching upon parts of the confrontation and speculation in public-interest audiences. All this produced headlines.
But as more details emerged, a further contradictory narrative emerged from the father in law’s family. Local residents said tensions grew when the daughter-in-law supposedly visited the in-laws' house with 10 to 15 other women. The process quickly devolved into havoc, with the parties’ arguments embroiled in accusations and clashes. The disagreement played out in a neighborhood that neighbors said escalated the tensions.

People who have come to support the father in law are contending that the incident was provoked by what the video posted on social media, without giving any detailed account of who was involved. They say selective recording could be leveraged by stakeholders to influence public perception. Now the other side presses on with the charges; and that’s just messing it up more. Amid this already happening, with heightened public scrutiny, the family of the husband called Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his intercession and protection. And local residents say some of their own personal feuds with family members are now more rancorous, particularly on social media.
Videos when shared without sufficient context, they argue, can really blow up such cases when they are, he says, to the point that they end up with misinformation, polarized views and polarization.
