A Major Boost to Public Healthcare
Further to enhance the state’s public health care system, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that the department of health provision is set to sanction a Super Speciality Hospital for the city of Karwar in our budget. The report is projected to revolutionise access to healthcare in Uttara Kannada district: especially for a larger section of the population in coastal and rural areas who travel far to the state for superior medical care.
‘Super Speciality Hospitals in all districts in Karnataka,’ said the Chief Minister to a public audience. The goal is explicit — to provide affordable, high-quality advanced medical services for all those who use the system, particularly the poor and those with lesser economic capability. Through the decentralization of specialized healthcare institutions, the government intends to lighten the load for largest city hospitals and make critical medical care available at the district level.
Expanding Karnataka’s Medical Network
By October 2023 Karnataka has 22 government medical colleges which offer low-cost treatment and medical education. So this network is strong, and the government further developed by establishing new government medical colleges in Kolar, Puttur & Vijayapura. Such expansions can boost regional healthcare infrastructure along with creating jobs for medical professionals and support staff.
The Super Speciality Hospital in Karwar may provide state-of-the-art care in cardiology, neurology, nephrology, oncology, trauma, etc. This will notably lessen the burden of trekking for specialists from Uttara Kannada to Bengaluru or Hubballi to receive their treatment; it will save on travel time and costs.
Importance of District-Level Infrastructure
The health care personnel said it would be of great importance to invest such funds in the district-level infrastructure, for better health results, early diagnosis and early treatment.
Karnataka Health: The programme showcases the state’s dedication towards a world-class inclusive health system that meets people’s needs. This is the message to all intents and purposes to have world-class medical facilities within reach across Uttara Kannada.
