A devastating incident of a Rottweiler dog attack has claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman near the outskirts of Davanagere. The victim, identified as Anitha, a resident of Mallashettihalli, succumbed to fatal injuries following the brutal assault by two dogs.
The incident occurred late Saturday night on the outskirts of Gollarahatti village.
Sequence of the Fatal Attack
The shocking event unfolded around 11:30 PM when Anitha was reportedly walking alone towards her parental home after a dispute with her children.
- The Attack: Two Rottweiler dogs, allegedly abandoned by unknown individuals near the village outskirts, launched a sudden and violent attack on Anitha.
- Fatal Injuries: The dogs attacked her mercilessly, inflicting approximately 50 bite injuries across her body. Anitha died on the spot due to the severity of the injuries.
- Discovery: The gruesome incident came to light only around 3:30 AM when villagers discovered her body.
Rescue Attempt and Public Reaction
Upon discovering the body, villagers managed to capture the two Rottweilers.
- Public Outrage: Driven by shock and anger, the villagers tied the captured dogs with ropes and dragged them through the village streets before handing them over to the authorities.
- Medical Attempt: Initially, attempts were made to rush the critically injured Anitha to a hospital in Bengaluru. However, she tragically passed away near Sira (Tumakuru district) while en route.
- Post-Mortem: Her body was subsequently taken to the Government Hospital in Sira for a post-mortem examination. The body is expected to be transferred back to Davanagere after the procedure.
Authorities are now investigating the incident and attempting to trace the owners who abandoned the aggressive dogs.
