The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for Karnataka, forecasting four consecutive days of heavy rainfall across several districts, with Bengaluru expected to experience intermittent showers and thunderstorms.

According to IMD officials, the rainfall activity is likely to intensify due to evolving weather systems over southern India, bringing moisture-laden winds and unstable atmospheric conditions. Coastal and interior regions of Karnataka may witness moderate to heavy rain, while isolated areas could experience intense downpours accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.

In Bengaluru, residents can expect afternoon and evening showers, with occasional thunderstorms over the next few days. While the rain may bring temporary relief from rising temperatures, it could also lead to traffic congestion, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and disruptions to daily life.

Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious, especially during peak rainfall hours. Commuters are urged to plan their travel in advance, avoid waterlogged routes, and stay updated with weather advisories. The civic authorities in Bengaluru are also on alert to manage potential flooding and ensure smooth drainage operations.

The IMD has further warned that heavy rainfall in parts of Karnataka could impact agriculture, particularly in regions where crops are sensitive to excess water. Farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures to protect standing crops and livestock.

Weather experts note that such pre-monsoon showers are not uncommon in southern India, but the intensity and duration of the current system have raised concerns. Continuous rainfall over multiple days increases the risk of localized flooding and infrastructure strain.

Despite the warnings, the rainfall is also expected to benefit water reservoirs and groundwater levels, which is crucial for the region ahead of the summer months.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the IMD and local authorities as the situation evolves. With changing weather patterns, staying informed and prepared remains key to minimizing inconvenience and ensuring safety.
