According to reports, the woman had been sleeping in the front yard of her house as temperatures remained high inside the house. During the night, a snake measuring around six feet in length reportedly approached her and suddenly bit her on the leg.

Startled by the sudden pain, Yellamma woke up but initially did not realize what had bitten her. When she attempted to drive away the creature using a broom, she noticed the snake and understood that she had been bitten.

Her family members immediately rushed her to a private hospital in Sindhanur for emergency treatment. Doctors provided timely medical care, and she is currently recovering.

The incident has caused concern among residents in the village, especially as snake sightings tend to increase during the summer months when reptiles often move into residential areas searching for cooler places.

The case falls under the jurisdiction of the Sindhanur Rural Police, and officials have advised villagers to remain cautious and avoid sleeping outdoors in areas where snakes may be present.

Local authorities also urged residents to keep their surroundings clean and well-lit to reduce the risk of snake encounters during the summer season.
