That was a one-time dispute that turned into a fatal assault in Dharwad with the death of a 23-year-old man and another being seriously injured. That dramatic incident was caught by cameras from all over the city. The deceased was identified as Saibaz Jamadar, who died of his injuries after being treated for several days.
Another victim, Ashfaq Pathan, 24, is now receiving medical treatment. The incident was happening close to a resort in Chikkamalligawad village, police said. Saibaz and his friends, police added, had stopped their bike near the resort and were talking loud. The others with them had a fight with one another over the nuisance.
The argument exploded and went extremely nasty soon after. The disturbance was first handled by residents in the area and at first dispersed the two groups. According to authorities, Saibaz's group, which he and his friends were going for a ride on their bike, was followed by the other group.
The attackers were allegedly attacking with sticks and wooden clubs, pursuing and beating them mercilessly. The attack left Saibaz and Ashfaq seriously injured. They were immediately sent to Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in Hubballi for treatment. Saibaz Jamadar died after a nine-day fight, and Ashfaq Pathan continues seeking treatment for his injuries. His condition is serious but stable, and has not been improved, however.
On the other hand, CCTV footage of the assault has appeared which serves as tangible evidence that we are still trying to recover and get some answers. It is witnessed the group attacking the victims with sticks—adding further evidence from the group for the incident.
A case has been registered at Dharwad Rural Police Station and police have launched a manhunt through it to find and arrest all people behind the attack. Police officials also took the stand of declaring the accused to be on a violent footing and warning citizens not to make silly situations out of it. It’s tragic that just little disagreements can escalate into deadly violence, which means conflict resolution must start and more law enforcement needs to be present to prevent such incidents in the future.
