A domestic dispute in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, turned out to be unusual after a man allegedly followed his wife when he was suspicious of her reason for leaving home and claimed to have found her with a government engineer at a hotel.
The woman, who is a government computer operator, told her husband to leave home to go with her senior officer for a field inspection, she said. But her husband was suspicious about the situation and followed her on his scooter.
The incident ended at a hotel, where the man said he found his wife in the company of Executive Engineer Uday Pratap Singh.
The husband recorded the encounter on his mobile phone and went to the police to ask for an investigation into it.
Wife Leaves Home. Husband Is Suspicious
According to the account circulating about this incident, the woman told her husband that she needed to accompany her senior officer for a work-related inspection.
Such field visits can be part of government employees’ daily operational duties, when officials may have to survey sites or review ongoing work, the husband said.
And instead of staying at home, he allegedly followed his wife on her scooter to find out where she was going.
The trail led him to a hotel in Lucknow.
Alleged Meeting at Hotel
The husband says he was shocked when he saw his wife at the hotel with Executive Engineer Uday Pratap Singh.
Instead of confronting the two without evidence, he used his mobile phone to record what he had witnessed.
The footage was then shown as part of his complaint to the police. The husband wants to have the authorities investigate the circumstances of the meeting and whether any wrongdoing was done and what happened.
The husband’s allegations have not, by themselves, established that an affair or any other misconduct took place. The circumstances of the meeting and the nature of the relationship would need to be independently verified by the authorities.
Police Complaint Seeks Investigation
The husband approached the police station following the discovery and asked to have the matter investigated, the report said.
His complaint is based on the fact that his wife had told him she was going on an official inspection with her senior, while he later found her at a hotel with the executive engineer.
The police investigation, if formally done, would look at the circumstances in which the employees met, whether the meeting was connected to official duties, and whether any rules or laws were violated.
The authorities may also verify the video recorded by the husband and establish the sequence of events.
Government Employees Under Attention
The incident has attracted attention because it involves government employees and a senior engineer.
Government employees should act professionally while performing their job. But allegations of misconduct in their personal lives must be distinguished from actual workplace misconduct.
If the meeting was connected to official work, investigators would need to establish the purpose and circumstances of the visit. If there were allegations of misuse of official position or government resources, those claims would need separate verification.
Investigation Will Establish Facts
The husband claims that he personally followed his wife and recorded the alleged meeting. The video and allegations alone don’t reveal the nature of the relationship.
The identities, statements and circumstances of the hotel visit would have to be verified through an impartial investigation.
The authorities may also be looking into whether the woman was officially assigned to accompany the engineer on the day in question, and whether any field inspection was actually scheduled.
The husband has made the claim, and the allegations of an alleged romantic relationship should not be taken as facts unless confirmed through an investigation.
The case has, however, been of interest in Lucknow because it is about domestic disputes and government employees and an executive engineer. Further police or other department investigation is expected to reveal whether the allegations are valid and whether any official rules were broken.
