A school van carrying children was attacked and vandalised in Lucknow (U.P.), the incident raised fears for the safety of the commuters and school-goers during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. It was said that the attackers were among the people taking part in the annual religious procession. No injuries to the children or driver were reported.

What happened?
According to the eyewitness accounts, the school van was driving along its regular route when it had to face heavy traffic due to Kanwariyas on a Kanwar Yatra. There was an argument between Kanwar Yatra-bound traffic and the school van was stuck in congestion, and a group of men surrounded it.
The men allegedly vandalized the school van by breaking the windows and exterior of the vehicle. Children who were in the van were left in tears at the time, sources said. The driver managed to move the van away from the scene after local residents and passers-by intervened.
