A chilling incident has been reported in Bengaluru's JP Nagar, where the body of a man was found with his throat slit. The victim has been identified as Tilak Kumar (32), a native of Himachal Pradesh who was employed at a local hotel.
The gruesome discovery was made on Friday evening (yesterday) near the 1st Phase of JP Nagar.
Discovery of the Body
The body was found seated beneath a tree near a footpath. Initial investigation started when blood stains were noticed on the footpath. After locals alerted the police, JP Nagar police officials rushed to the scene for inspection.
It was during the on-site examination that the victim’s throat was found to have been cut, leading to immediate suspicion of foul play. The Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) team also visited the location and examined the body and the surrounding area.
Murder Case Filed, Twist Emerges in Police Probe
Based on the nature of the injuries and the circumstances of the death, the JP Nagar police have registered a case of murder.
However, the police investigation has uncovered a significant piece of information: records show that the deceased, Tilak Kumar, had purchased a knife from a shop shortly before the incident.
Due to this finding, the police are now investigating the case from two angles:
- Homicide: The initial suspicion of murder by an unknown assailant.
- Suicide: The possibility that Tilak Kumar took his own life, having purchased the weapon himself.
Police are currently pursuing leads in both directions to determine whether the 32-year-old was murdered or if he committed suicide. Tilak Kumar was working in a hotel in Bengaluru at the time of the incident.
