A major road accident between a school bus and a private bus was reported near Somanahalli in Mandya district, leaving 14 injured, including 12 children. It occurred on Friday evening around 6 PM in Maddur Taluk at the time of a school trip, sending shockwaves across the region.
According to first reports, the school bus of Mariyappa School was on its way towards Kestur when the accident took place. A private bus passing on towards Bengaluru collided with the school bus at a speed of 40kph.
According to police, the impact of the collision caused the school bus to lose control due to suddenness and skidded almost 50 meters away on another road. Several people were injured and shaken up by the force, as a result of the collision. Most of the people who were injured, most seriously, no one was hurt but the children are in temporary medical condition which can be treated for minor burns.
All the injured were quickly taken to hospitals in Maddur and Mandya for treatment. Medical teams confirmed they are under observation and responding well to treatment.
The whole scenario was captured on a nearby hotel’s CCTV camera, and the footage of the awful incident has since emerged at the moment of impact. The footage illustrates that the private bus crashes into the school bus as it bends towards the school bus at frightening speed.
