An automobile-passenger bus accident (on the Mysuru–Bengaluru Highway) was reported in Mandya, a highway widely used in the high-safety-sensitive state. Four people were injured in that crash, but thankfully no fatalities.
On the way and while it crashed, the bus had been on a journey from Kerala to Bengaluru via the Mandya route, the Mandya report also said. The exact cause of the accident is still unknown, but police authorities believe the collision was a head-on collision of the car with the bus or an overtaking manoeuvre.
After causing the accident, the bus spun out of control and turned course differently, hitting an artificial barrier by the roadside and a run-off drain. The order brought panic to the bus, although some passengers appeared to have miraculously made it from the scene of the accident into the rush of events that ensued. But the casualty of the crash was the car.
Four had minor injuries. Neighbours and passersby arrived earlier as well and assisted in calling for emergency help and freeing the wounded. These injured are being driven to MIMS Hospital for medical care. But the injuries aren’t life-threatening, doctors said, and they will be monitored. But with medical care, they were able to get them taken out as soon as possible, and no matter what we were seeing, it all became even more tragic.

A few minutes after the accident, Mandya Rural Police Station patrol personnel arrived on the scene. But the cars were locked down, and motorway traffic halted temporarily while the damaged vehicles were cleared, and normal traffic resumed. So far, a case has begun, and the actual site of the accident is still being studied. Officials are investigating the vehicle’s speed and road condition, and whether the driver was distracted in the accident.
The Mysuru–Bengaluru Highway is a busy traffic juncture famed for its excessive use of inter-state buses and private vehicles. The infrastructure being modernised did little to prevent a few people from striking each other, especially due to speeding, reckless or distracted conduct.
Experts have emphasised over and over again to motor vehicles that they need to take care of themselves, drive within speed limits and maintain safe driving distances on highways where high-speed driving increases the risk of collisions, officials said. It promotes a genuine understanding of road safety and responsible driving. Not deadly in this case, but a warning of how quickly things can veer deadly on jammed highways.
In the meantime, authorities will do anything necessary to ensure such incidents don’t happen again, which should be done in good faith; so as soon as the investigation is completed, the authorities will take another step, and it’ll try even harder, and there will be an even higher level of full implementation of safeguards of the system in the future.
