The fire is believed to have been triggered by a short circuit, said initial reports. The fire was reported to start shortly after 3 a.m. in the furniture shop where there was a lot of wooden furniture and other combustible materials. The fire quickly took over a large part of the establishment, and it was very difficult to contain the fire.

The furniture showroom belongs to businessman Shivaling Patil. As the fire intensified, thick smoke and gigantic flames could be seen from a long distance. Police and fire departments were immediately notified by villagers, and they took charge of the fire very soon.

Firefighters and police personnel rushed to the scene and launched a major operation to contain the blaze. Fire and emergency services personnel were confronted with an extremely difficult task to fight the flames, as furniture and wood stored inside the building were a huge challenge. Firefighting teams worked together for several hours to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

A major disaster was narrowly averted because a petrol bunk is located next to the furniture showroom. This would have been much more of a disaster for nearby residents and businesses if the fire had reached the fuel station. The fire was contained by firefighters before it spread beyond the furniture store.

No casualties or injuries have been reported so far, but damage is said to be extensive. Early estimates suggest that several crores of rupees worth of furniture was destroyed in the fire. About ₹6 crore is estimated to be the total loss, but a detailed evaluation will be carried out in the coming days.

Police from the Ghataprabha Police Station went to the site and began investigations into the incident. Initial investigations indicate that the fire was caused by a short circuit, but a thorough inquiry is to be carried out to determine the exact circumstances that led to the outbreak.

This incident has once again highlighted the importance of fire safety measures in commercial establishments, especially those dealing with flammable materials. Residents and business owners have called for regular safety inspections and better preventive measures in order to avoid a similar scene from happening in the future.
