A tragic road accident caused by a Mercedes-Benz car crashing into the road divider in Karnataka killed one person. Dodda Hulluru village was the site that caused panic-stricken residents to be worried about reckless driving on the highway.
The Mercedes-Benz was travelling at a high speed on the New Chennai Expressway when the driver lost control of the car, a preliminary statement said. The luxury car then rammed into the central divider with enormous force, causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
The collision was so violent that the Mercedes-Benz was completely mangled. Images from the accident site showed the front portion of the vehicle crushed beyond recognition, indicating the extent of the crash.
A young woman travelling in the car suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot, the police said. The identity of the victim was not yet known, but authorities were working to find her and inform her family members. Additional information about the victim will be released after the identification process is completed, police officials said.
The driver of the car allegedly fled the scene after the accident. Witnesses told authorities the man driving the car fled before emergency responders and police personnel got there. Police believe the driver's negligence and irresponsible driving may have been the cause of the accident.
Local people at the scene rushed to help when they heard the loud crash and alerted emergency services. But because the damage was so severe, the woman could not be saved. Her body was later sent for post-mortem examination as part of the legal procedure.
At the same time, Hoskote Police Station personnel arrived at the scene soon after the accident. The site was secured, and the vehicle was thoroughly examined. Physical evidence from the scene, such as skid marks and vehicle debris, is being examined to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the crash.
Police have started a search operation to trace the absconding driver. CCTV footage from nearby toll plazas, highways, and surveillance cameras installed along the expressway is being reviewed to identify the suspect and establish his movements before and after the accident, authorities said.
The accident took place within the jurisdiction of Hoskote Police Station in Bengaluru Rural District. A case has been filed, and the investigation is ongoing, according to police officials. If the driver is found, police will take swift action against him once he is captured, they said.
