Mukesh Choudhary Leaves CSK Camp After Mother’s Death

It seems so bad for our country that after the Indian Premier League 2026 matches, Mukesh Choudhary has left after the death of his mother, Prema Devi. The left-arm pro pacer has been taking time off for home life from work part of his family now that he has been off playing Indian Premier League 2026.

Mukesh Choudhary's mum reportedly was battling a long illness and was on medicine for it at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. The tragic news was delivered shortly after the CSK team arrived in the metropolis for their upcoming match at Wankhede Stadium.

Not so long ago, the 27-year-old pacer had played an impressive game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad as he picked up the vital wickets, which included the ones of Travis Head and Ishan Kishan. His form had relegated him to an important link in CSK’s bowling attack, particularly the powerplay overs. After the tragedy, Mukesh went to his own hometown Bhilwara with his brother to make the final remarks on his mother’s life in their village Garwalon Ka Khera.

His abrupt return home is an emotional and tactical shock for the team ahead of perhaps the most important game of the season. CSK captain MS Dhoni is believed to be talking to Mukesh, who is having a tough time, with support being his response. The franchise has had no word on whether the pacer will return to the squad. That leaves a hole when it comes to pace attack at CSK, from a cricketing perspective, Mukesh’s omission is a game changer.

The team may have left-arm alternatives in Gurjapneet Singh and Spencer Johnson, but Mukesh's experience and recent performance will be a great help. Beyond cricket, the incident is also a reminder of the personal hurdles athletes have to overcome, even in high-profile tournaments.

As fans look forward to the events on a field, moments such as these are a powerful reminder of the human element of sports, where personal loss becomes more prevalent than professional commitment.

Whilst the IPL is a long-drawn-out contest, CSK will need to pull together to regain their sense of strategy and the cricketing world expresses its condolences and support to Mukesh Choudhary at the moment.
