As 2025 comes to a close, the royal city of Mysuru is gearing up for its flagship year-end event—the Mysuru Winter Festival 2026 (also known as the Maaghi Utsav). This 10-day extravaganza transforms the iconic Ambavilas Palace grounds into a floral wonderland, offering a perfect getaway for families and tourists during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The highlight of the Palace Flower Show 2025–26 is a massive floral tribute to the Sringeri Sharada Peetham. This architectural marvel has been recreated using lakhs of fresh flowers and serves as the festival's primary attraction.

  • Size: The replica is approximately 50 feet wide, 25 feet high, and 16 feet deep.
  • Flowers Used: Crafted from nearly 4 lakh cut flowers, including roses, chrysanthemums, carnations, and gerberas.
  • Other Floral Replicas: Visitors can also see floral models of the Preamble of the Constitution, environmentalist Saalumarada Thimmakka, and tributes to the Indian women's cricket team.

New Year’s Eve Special (Dec 31)

  • The festival reaches its peak on the night of December 31st with two major events:
  • Police Band Performance: The Karnataka Police Band will perform a mix of English and Indian classical music from 11:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
  • Green Fireworks: At the stroke of midnight, a spectacular silent, eco-friendly fireworks display will illuminate the sky over the palace for 15 minutes to welcome 2026.

  • Avoid the Rush: Visit on a weekday morning around 10:30 AM for the best photography lighting and fewer crowds.
  • Evening Magic: Arrive by 6:30 PM to enjoy the floral show under natural light, followed by the breathtaking view when the 97,000 palace bulbs are switched on at 7:00 PM.
