Bihar made further progress in its dairy sector as Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated several dairy development projects in Nalanda district as part of its dairy sector in the province. This is the first step in improving milk production, processing capacity, dairy farmers’ jobs and creating jobs in Bihar district.
New projects are launched to modernize dairy infrastructure, improve milk collection systems and provide better dairy cooperative facilities. “These projects will help farmers to increase their incomes and we will be able to supply milk and dairy products consistently,” the state government says.
CMO Samrat Choudhary said the dairy sector was one of Bihar’s strongest pillars of rural development because through its investment in modern dairy infrastructure that will bring the state’s agricultural economy to the forefront and that investments in modern dairy infrastructure will not only increase productivity but also boost the country’s agricultural sector.
The government’s focus is to empower rural people of Bihar through sustainable livelihood opportunities and to create sustainable employment opportunities in the rural areas, he said at the inauguration.
Nalanda has seen more involvement in dairy farming in the past years. New projects will offer better storage, processing and transportation facilities and decrease post-harvest losses and provide access to market for milk farmers. Farmers will also benefit from faster procurement and timely payments due to better cooperative systems.

The expansion of dairy infrastructure will also encourage more small and marginal farmers to join organized milk production, officials told the newspaper.
Better veterinary support, improved breeding services, access to modern technology will ultimately increase productivity in the district.
The dairy sector is one of the key sectors in Bihar’s rural economy in which thousands of farmers earn each year as income. Unlike seasonal agriculture, dairy farming is a reliable source of income and is also a reliable source of income. Our current projects will only enhance this ecosystem in further efficiency across the milk value chain.
Besides increasing milk production, the government is also planning to create employment in dairy processing units, logistics, packaging and other related fields. Young entrepreneurs and women in self-help groups also have the potential for new business opportunities from the dairy network expansion.
I think that investing in modern dairy infrastructure can improve the quality of dairy products, food safety standards, and will also help Bihar's competitiveness in the dairy market. Cold chain and efficient processing facilities and fast processing facilities can also help increase the reach of dairy products beyond the state.
Bihar’s wider focus on agricultural modernization and rural development is reflected in the inauguration. If the government can marry infrastructure upgrades with farmer support programs, dairy farming will be more profitable and sustainable in the coming years.
Given the many dairy projects that are currently happening in Nalanda, there are expectations that farmer involvement will increase, milk production will be better and rural areas will be more prosperous.
