India has deported alleged narco-trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh from Türkiye in a big step toward pursuing suspects linked to international drug networks. Indian intelligence and law enforcement agencies worked together to bring Singh back to India, according to a report.
Navpreet Singh (also known as Nav Bhullar) had been identified by Indian authorities as a key suspect who had been an overseas narcotics trader operating an international narcotics network. He was already known to be in Türkiye, which Indian officials were trying to bring him back from abroad.
The development follows months of efforts by Indian authorities to secure Singh’s return. In May 2026, The Indian Express reported India was working with Türkiye on his extradition. Singh, a Punjab native, was wanted in several narcotics-related cases, the report said.
Singh’s alleged network has previously been at the center of major drug operations in Punjab. Punjab Police arrested two alleged associates of the Türkiye-based smuggler in October 2024 and seized 105 kg of heroin and guns and other drugs in Amritsar during a sweep. Police said the operation uncovered links with a larger cross-border drug-smuggling network.
The investigation also involved people allegedly operating operations connected to Singh. In May 2026, the Delhi Police brought back Prabhdeep Singh from Azerbaijan in connection with a case of 358 kg of heroin seized.
According to investigators, Prabhdeep had been in charge of India-based operations for an international drug syndicate run by Navpreet Singh.
India and Türkiye have a formal extradition framework. The two countries signed an extradition treaty in 2001 which became effective in June 2002. The agreement provides a legal mechanism for the transfer of wanted individuals between the two countries.
Singh’s deportation comes at a time when Indian agencies are working with international partners to track down fugitives and suspects linked to organized crime and narcotics trafficking. The return will allow Indian investigators to question him in relation to the cases and alleged networks under investigation.
The new development also follows the extradition of drug trafficker Salim Dola from Türkiye to India in April 2026. India had earlier gotten Prabhdeep Singh back from Azerbaijan in connection with the major heroin case.
Now that Navpreet Singh is back in India, the investigators are expected to investigate his alleged role in narcotics operations, his links with associates and the larger international network of people linked to him.
