In a public notice on July 7, the NTA said that 10.28 lakh candidates have already updated and confirmed their bank account details and the refund process has begun for them. But a large number of eligible candidates are yet to complete the process, it said, and for a short period of time it will reopen the online facility.

The candidates who have not yet verified or corrected their bank account details can continue their application through the NEET UG 2026 registration portal until 11:50 PM on July 14, 2026. All other candidates must complete the process for refunding their bank account within this time period to avoid delays in receiving refunds from NTA.

According to the official notice, about 10,28,223 candidates have already submitted their bank account information successfully. As the refund process has already started for these candidates, the agency is now focused on ensuring every eligible student receives the refund without unnecessary delays.

The NTA noted that many candidates do not update or verify their banking information, making refunding difficult. To resolve this issue, it has again activated the bank account verification and updation window on the NEET UG 2026 official portal.

The candidates need to verify all the information before submitting it. Details such as account holder’s name, account number, IFSC code, and other banking information should match the records to avoid refund failures or processing delays.

The refund follows the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 exam held on May 3. After the cancellation of the exam, both the government and the NTA promised the candidates to refund the examination fee, so that the bank account verification process can be done.

Students who have already updated and confirmed their details do not need to take any further action, as the refund process for them is already underway. Only those who have not completed the verification or need to correct previously submitted banking information are required to log in to the registration portal and update their details before the deadline.

The NTA advised candidates that they should not wait until the last day, as heavy traffic on the portal could lead to technical problems. Completing the process in time before the deadline will help ensure that the refund is credited without any complications.

With the final deadline on July 14, 2026, at 11:50 PM, candidates should check the status of their respective applications and update the information in their bank accounts immediately if they haven’t already done so. Once the window is closed, the agency is expected to go ahead and process the remaining refunds so that eligible NEET UG 2026 candidates get their examination fee as soon as possible.
