In a heartbreaking incident near Nelamangala, a four-year-old girl lost her life after being run over by a lorry while on her way to a temple with her mother.
The deceased child, identified as Nishika, was the daughter of Rajendra (35) and Lavanya (30). The family had reportedly stepped out after celebrating the Ugadi festival and were heading for a temple visit when the tragedy occurred.
The incident took place in Hanumanthagowdanapalya under the jurisdiction of the Madanayakanahalli Police Station limits in North Bengaluru. According to reports, Lavanya was carrying her younger child in her arms while holding Nishika’s hand as they walked along the road.
During this time, a container lorry approaching from the opposite direction allegedly lost control and ran over the child. The impact was fatal, and the young girl died on the spot, leaving her mother devastated as she witnessed the entire incident.
Local residents rushed to help, and police officials from Madanayakanahalli Police Station soon arrived at the scene. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
The child’s body has been shifted to the government mortuary in Nelamangala for postmortem examination.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the dangers posed by heavy vehicles on busy roads and the need for stricter traffic regulation and enforcement to prevent such devastating accidents.
