According to early reports, the wife of the couple threw or struck a phone at her husband, causing a serious head injury.

The injured man was immediately taken to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Bolangir for medical treatment. Hospital doctors said he was treated and discharged after treatment and went back home.

But the situation turned tragic just after his discharge. The man's health suddenly deteriorated after he arrived at home, family members told reporters. Emergency medical care was sent back to the District Headquarters Hospital for him.

Despite doctors trying to save him, he died and was declared dead.

After the death, local police launched an investigation to determine the sequence of events leading to the incident. The post-mortem examination report is expected to determine the exact cause of death and whether the head injury directly led to the fatal outcome.

Investigators are also recording statements from family members and other witnesses regarding the assault to determine what happened. No arrests have been made in connection with the case, and police have not identified any arrests so far.

The police said that further legal action would depend on the findings of the investigation and post-mortem report.

The incident has shocked a lot of people in the area and it’s just one of those cases in which domestic arguments in a house can turn into tragic deaths, they said. Police are asking the public to refrain from speculation while the investigation is ongoing and say that all aspects of the case will be examined before any legal action is taken.

People said they expect more details to emerge once forensic and medical reports are received, and that the nature of the offence and the next course of action will be established.
