Today, the Prime Minister met with Ministers, Members of Parliament, and Senators of Indian origin in Kuala Lumpur, emphasising the strong historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties that constitute an important cornerstone of the India–Malaysia relationship.
The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the significant contributions made by leaders of Indian origin to Malaysia’s national development, governance, and social cohesion in connection with the occasion. He recognized the distinguished role played by these authorities in public life and added that their leadership reflects the abiding principles of democracy, inclusiveness, and multicultural harmony shared by both countries.
Emphasizing the Indian diaspora as a living bridge between India and Malaysia, the Prime Minister highlighted its significance as a means to enhance bilateral dialogue and complement the progress of the India–Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He noted that cooperation among major sectors trade, investment, digital technology, education, skills development, and culture is steadily strengthening with deep and broad community networks and mutual goodwill.
The Prime Minister said: “The success and integration of the Indian-origin community in Malaysia is indicative of the country’s pluralistic ethos.” He also reiterated India’s determination to deepen its connection with overseas Indians and support efforts to build connectivity, collaboration, and prosperity for both nations.
The meeting served as a means to exchange constructive views in the direction of deepening bilateral cooperation and institutional, business, and cultural ties. “It will be more meaningful and will support longer-term partnership between India and Malaysia through a closer relationship between elected representatives, policymakers and, by that, communities,” the Prime Minister added.
Leaders of different political persuasions presented strong and enduring views of the India–Malaysia relations at the meeting. Their appearance emphasized a shared understanding of the strategic significance of the bilateral relationship within the context of a deepened commitment to strengthen ties going forward.
The meeting ended in a friendly manner, setting the tone for future steps to build a better and mutually productive community. It reaffirmed the common heritage, common aspirations, and friendship between the two countries for peace and prosperity in the long run, and their relationship for the future.
