A Message of Hope and Positivity

In his letter on Makar Sankranti, PM Modi said Makar Sankranti is a symbol in the Indian context of hope and a new beginning. And so as the sun initiates its northward journey (Uttarayan), it brings optimism, he added. "Dear fellow citizens, on this auspicious occasion of Sankranti, I convey my heartfelt greetings to you and your family. Sankranti, marking the new beginning of the sun's path, is a symbol of hope and positivity," the Prime Minister wrote.

Despite what various parts of India celebrate like Pongal in Tamil Nadu, Magh Bihu in Assam, and Lohri in the North, the spirit of cultural richness and national unity remains unchanged, he stressed.

Tribute to the Farmers (Annadatas)

Much of the Prime Minister’s message was aimed at India’s farming population. With a time of harvest when farmers and their families observe the bounties of the natural world, he pointed out, Sankranti is sacred for them. Gratitude: He saw the festival as a chance to say thank you to the “Annadatas” (providers of food) who contribute to society’s sustenance.

Social Strength

The Prime Minister expressed that we strengthen the very bedrock of our society by supporting farmers' hard work. Wishes for Harmony and Success The Prime Minister prayed for all citizens' excellent health and prosperity with the words "sweetness of Til and Gul (Sesame and Jaggery)" to fill everyone's lives.

He spoke of the hope that this year will lead to success for all, not least an all-round feeling of harmony and brotherhood in society. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister also participated in Pongal celebrations at the residence of Union Minister L. Murugan in Delhi, further showcasing his commitment to celebrating India's diverse traditions.
