Police carried out a major raid in Chintamani town and arrested five people for running a prostitution racket. The raid took place at a house located in Gandhi Nagar area of Chintamani.
According to officials, the police acted on confirmed information that a gang was operating from the house. The gang was reportedly bringing young women from other states and forcing them into prostitution. Acting swiftly, a team led by DySP Muralidhar and CPI Viji Kumar raided the premises and detained the accused.
The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Chintamani Town Police Station. Officers said that the raid was planned after receiving reliable intelligence about illegal activities being carried out in the residential locality. The police team surrounded the house and entered, finding evidence of the racket and rescuing the women involved.
Locals expressed shock that such activities were being conducted in their neighborhood. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible. The arrested individuals are being questioned to identify others connected to the network.
