A tragic road accident on Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway (NH-44) near Shamshabad claimed the life of a 40-year-old man and left around 50 people injured in the early hours of Monday, September 14, 2026. A private bus lost control and crashed into a couple of stationary vehicles before crashing into a roadside restaurant and an adjacent betel shop at around 5:30 AM.
Bus Loses Control Near Shamshabad
According to police information reported by Hindustan Times, the accident started when a container truck collided with an electric pole situated on the road divider. A private bus operated by 7 Hills Roadways was travelling towards Hyderabad when its driver tried to avoid the truck.
The bus lost control and ploughed into several parked vehicles before crashing into the roadside hotel. A lot of vehicles and structures around the restaurant were damaged.
The incident took place near Shamshabad, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, in Telangana's Rangareddy district.
40-Year-Old Man Killed While Having Tea
Mohd Azmal, 40, was identified as the deceased man from Karimnagar district of Telangana. According to the police report given by Hindustan Times, Azmal was outside the restaurant and drinking tea when he was struck by the bus.
He died at the spot because of the impact.
Some additional people in and outside the restaurant were injured. The bus driver and another person suffered serious injuries, while others suffered relatively minor injuries.

Around 50 People Injured
Police said almost 50 people were injured in the accident and were taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. The extent of the crash was magnified by the presence of parked vehicles and people in front of the roadside establishment at the time, police said.
The accident also damaged motorcycles and other vehicles parked close to the restaurant.
Police Investigate Exact Cause
Though the initial police account points to the container truck scraping an electric pole and the bus driver trying to avoid the resulting obstruction, officials said an investigation was currently in progress in order to establish the exact sequence of events.
Another report by The News Mill, which cited ANI data, also confirmed that the private bus hit stationary vehicles before crashing into the roadside hotel near Shamshabad. The accident happened early morning and the injured were taken to the hospital, it said.
The incident has once again shown us how dangerous it is to be a motorist, a pedestrian, or a roadside business on busy national highways in the early morning when visibility and traffic can change so quickly.
