Shivarajkumar has filed an application for the correction of his name in the electoral roll as part of the voter list revision process. The actor, who is registered as a voter in Bengaluru’s Byatarayanapura Assembly constituency, has filed an application with the election officials with the help of documents, to update his name in the electoral rolls.
The development comes at a time when the government is preparing the electoral rolls and the latest voter list revision exercise. Voters are informed to check their details and seek corrections where necessary during this process and will be offered the opportunity to correct their details.
Shivarajkumar has decided to update the name in the voter list so that it matches the name in his passport. In the electoral roll till now, his name has been “Shivarajkumar” and his passport has the name “Puttaswamy Shivarajkumar.”
The actor has therefore submitted an application to the election officials to make the necessary correction to his name. The application is also accompanied by the necessary documents for the name change.
If the application is officially accepted after verification, Shivarajkumar’s name in the electoral roll will change from “Shivarajkumar” to “Puttaswamy Shivarajkumar.”
Name correction is needed to make the actor’s electoral record consistent with his official identification document. His decision to update his electoral name has now gained attention because of the difference between the name popularly used by him and the name recorded in his passport. While “Shivarajkumar” is the name by which the actor is widely recognised professionally and publicly, “Puttaswamy Shivarajkumar” is the name mentioned in the passport, according to details submitted for the correction.
The final decision will be made by the concerned election authorities after a thorough examination of the application and supporting documents. Once the correction is approved, the revised name will appear in the electoral roll.
