Bengaluru is celebrated as a tech and innovation hub, but again it’s being exposed for a troubling reason. A viral video, shared on social media platforms including X (formerly known as Twitter), depicts a brutal incident of road rage in the Mahadevapura region. The clips show two men angrily attacking a delivery executive after what appears to be a harmless non-impact traffic encounter at an intersection.
The incident, which took place in the middle of the day, demonstrated how more vulnerable gig workers are on the city’s busy streets. Footage and eyewitness stories suggest in one passage two of these bikes came in opposite directions from one another. The two riders had been able to brake a single time before coming down on the other but the clashes escalated without warning into unprovoked violence.

A shocking incident of road rage was reported in the Mahadevpura area, where a Zepto delivery rider was brutally assaulted by two scooty riders following a minor collision between their two-wheelers.… pic.twitter.com/FehJfaSSe2
Escalation and Public Intervention
As one of those charged jumped off his bike and hit the delivery executive with a helmet in the video, immediately he went airborne. A second man joined in the attack, rushing in from behind, throwing punches and kicking his victim. The assault lasted so intense that the delivery executive fell over on the road.
Another harrowing moment arrives when, with all the attackers, one of them is shown kicking the victim in the gut as he wrestled to take his bearings. Even when multiple onlookers were present, the attack continued at first. Still this evolved with the growing crowd. Initially, a bystander attempted to intervene by the aggressors, this was ignored by the attackers as citizens began to pool and surrounded the two individuals. And it wasn't until an old man stepped up next to the attackers without speaking, and the crowd resisted them as they were fleeing the attack with their bike.
Reactions of Police and Action by Authorities
It was also noted by the Karnataka Portfolio on X that the authorities immediately responded. The Bengaluru City Police are absolutely sure that they are taking the matter seriously. From official handles: The complaint has been passed to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield), Assistant Commissioner of Police, and Mahadevapura police station for appropriate investigation and actions.
“Based on the viral posting, we have sent your complaint to @dcpwhitefield @acpwhitefield @mahadevapuraps for necessary response,” the police department said in a tweet. It’s the latest in a string of road rage incidents in Bengaluru involving delivery service providers and has raised a fair number of questions about how safe roads are and the legal protections that delivery providers receive. Gig workers’ groups have been pressing for more stringent enforcement of traffic regulations and rapid judicial punishment as these same groups threaten workers on the front lines of the city’s service economy.
