According to the police, the girl was playing near a newly developed housing society when a speeding car struck her. The parents, who work as daily wage labourers, were nearby at the time of the incident, police said.

The impact of the collision was so severe, they said. The child was thrown several feet in the air by the speeding vehicle, they said. As she fell onto the road, the car’s front and rear wheels hit her, according to investigators.

Residents who saw the incident rushed to help the child and immediately called for her to be taken to a nearby hospital. Even so, the five-year-old was dead when doctors arrived and had died before medical treatment could begin.

The tragic death has left the grieving family devastated. Residents were horrified by the incident and demanded action against the driver who led to the fatal crash.

According to a police report, the driver did not stop to help the victim or report the accident, and did not stop to help the victim or call the authorities, authorities said.

There is a police case registered, and teams have been deployed to identify and arrest the driver. CCTV footage from nearby roads and businesses, eyewitness accounts and other evidence are being collected to locate the car involved.

Police are in the process of determining precisely what happened to the car, they said. They are also exploring whether any traffic laws were broken.

It has once more highlighted the danger of speeding cars in areas where children are playing, and especially in rapidly developing residential areas. Road safety experts have repeatedly stressed the need for speed limits to be enforced and drivers to drive with extreme care in residential areas.

Police are asking anyone who was in the vicinity of the accident or who has information about the vehicle to come forward and help with the investigation.

As the driver is still at large, the tragic loss of a young life has motivated more rigorous policing against reckless driving and more safety in areas with children in mind.

The police have assured that all necessary legal action will be taken once the accused is identified and apprehended. Further investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
