Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan hoisted the Tricolour at his residence in New Delhi on August 15 2026, to mark India's 80th Independence Day.
The ceremony was held as the country celebrated the historic occasion with patriotic programmes and tributes to the freedom fighters who played a crucial role in India’s independence.
Chouhan extended his Independence Day greetings to the people of the country and called upon to contribution to nation building through dedication, honesty and a strong sense of responsibility. His message highlighted the importance of citizens performing their duties sincerely while working towards a strong and more developed India.
The flag-hoisting ceremony at his residence came as leaders and citizens across the country observed Independence Day with the national flag and patriotic celebrations. PM Narendra Modi also addressed the nation from the historic Red Fort in New Delhi as part of the 80th Independence Day.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and currently serves as Union Minister for Agricultural and Farmers'Welfare and the Minister of Rural Development. According to the Prime Minister's Office, he continues to hold both portfolios in the Union Council of Ministers.

As Agriculture and Rural Development Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has focused on the issues concerning farmers, agriculture and rural communities. His ministry-related activities have included consultation with farmers, agricultural expect the rural organisations, as well as initiatives aimed at strengthening rural development and improving opportunities for farming communities.
The Independence Day ceremony at Chouhan’s residence reflected the significance of the national celebration and the values associated with the Tricolour. His appeal for citizens to serve the nation with dedication and honesty added a message of responsibility to the celebrations.
