The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has created a buzz in Chennai after he decided to travel on the Chennai Metro as part of the inspection tour and was shocked by commuters and officials there to share the transport system of the city with them.
What was initially meant to be a routine trip to check the public transport system of the city and what was a simple one that took place in the metro system to be a great experience for the passengers and for many people who could only say they were in good spirits and many of them were surprised to have a ride with the chief minister and former film star Vijay.
Now, it was one of the most well-known moments on social media and video and pictures of Minister Vijay interacting with the commuters on the metro ride with them was quickly being shared with videos and pictures of the Chief Minister interacting with the commuters quickly spread to the mass media.
The visit was to evaluate the quality of metro services, passenger convenience, cleanliness, safety standards and operational efficiency. Rather than relying on official reports and briefings, Vijay went to the metro train himself as a regular commuter. Chennai is investing in metro rail line expansion and so the surprise metro tour that the Chief Minister went on to have with him in a surprise was a reminder that public transportation is going to curb congestion and pollution and improve urban mobility.
