Medchal-Malkajgiri, Telangana: Telangana Excise officials seized a total of 28.163 kg of dry ganja in 2 cases in Malkajgiri and Secunderabad and arrested three people, officials said.
In the first case, the Assistant Commissioner, Enforcement, Malkajgiri carried out a raid in the RK Nagar auto stand area of Malkajgiri. During the operation, officials seized 7.163 kg of dry ganja and a mobile phone.
A man identified as Bappa, a native of Uttar Dinajpur in West Bengal, was arrested in the seizure. A case was registered in connection with the incident and investigations were initiated.
In the second case, the District Task Force (DTF) conducted route watch near the Passport Office in Secunderabad. During the operation, officials intercepted and arrested two women Indu Rani and Rajammal Panjagam. Both women are residents of Madurai in Tamil Nadu.
The DTF team seized 21 kg of dry ganja and three mobile phones from the two women. According to officials, the seized ganja was transported from the Vizag agency area.
The two separate operations resulted in the recovery of more than 28 kg of dry ganja and the arrest of three individuals. The seizures were made as part of enforcement action against the alleged possession and transportation of narcotic substances in the region.
Cases have been booked in both incidents, officials said. The case papers are now being handed over to the Station House Officer (SHO), Malkajgiri, for further action.
The investigations are expected to probe the transportation and possession of the seized ganja. The source of the contraband and its intended destination will also be investigated as the cases progress.
