Tata Motors’ new Tata Aeris teaser is making the world’s first look at the compact sedan. The new model will replace Tata Tigor in the company’s lineup and will be launched in India on 25th September 2026.
Tata is in fact giving the familiar compact sedan a major visual makeover instead of just cosmetic changes, the teaser says.
Tata Aeris Teaser Shows New Design.
The latest teaser shows a glimpse of the Aeris' front and rear styling while keeping most of the car covered. The car looks more modern than the outgoing Tigor.
Slim LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights can be seen in the teaser. The front bumper also appears to feature LED fog lamps and sharper design elements.
The teaser also shows a new purple or muted-indigo exterior colour which adds to the car’s fresh identity.
New name for the Tigor Successor.
The Tata Aeris is largely expected to be the updated version of the Tigor. Tata is using the new name in an attempt to give the sedan a different identity in India's competitive compact-sedan market.
The Aeris will continue with the familiar sub-four-metre sedan shape and its exterior will undergo extensive sheet-metal and styling modifications.
Tata’s teaser campaign has the message “Break the Mould” that the company wants its new sedan to stand out from other compact sedans in the market.
Expected features and Cabin changes.
Although Tata has not released the complete equipment list, reports indicate that the Aeris could get a much updated cabin.
Expected features are a bigger infotainment display, digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, updated dashboard design and additional convenience features.
But Tata has not yet confirmed the full specifications. We expect there to be more details on the 25th September unveiling.

Petrol and CNG Options Expected
The Aeris is expected to continue with petrol and CNG powertrain options for the Tigor. Tata could still use the existing 1.2-litre petrol engine but with both manual and automated manual transmission options.
The company’s engine specifications, variants, or pricing have not been formally determined.
There is also speculation about an electric version but Tata has not confirmed the full details of an Aeris EV.
Rivals in India's Compact Sedan Market.
Tata Aeris is going to enter a segment which includes models such as Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze.
Tata must be positioning the Aeris for a fresh approach in this competitive market with a new name and more aggressive looks and expected technology upgrades.
