A shocking incident of sacrilege and theft has been reported from Yakkalakatte village in the Gubbi Taluk of Tumakuru district, Karnataka, where masked individuals broke into a temple and looted the offering box (Hundi).
Mid-Night Break-in at Anjaneyaswamy Temple
The incident occurred late last night (Sunday) at the village's Anjaneyaswamy Temple. According to initial reports, three audacious thieves, all wearing masks and armed with iron rods, scaled the boundary wall to gain entry into the temple premises. They then broke into the main shrine.
Priest Discovers the Crime
The break-in came to light this morning (Monday) when the temple priest arrived for the daily Puja. The priest was shocked to find the temple door broken and items scattered inside. Upon noticing the missing Hundi (offering box), he immediately alerted the villagers.
Police and Forensic Team Investigate
The villagers, in turn, informed the Chelur Police Station. A team from the Chelur police, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, rushed to the spot to gather evidence.
Crucially, the entire act of the theft by the miscreants was captured on the temple's CCTV cameras. The police have since seized the CCTV Camera's Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and the complete footage of the robbery as part of their investigation.
