An unusual adventure has made headlines in Tumakuru district as Sai Kumar, an engineer from Hindupur in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, climbed the famous Madhugiri monolithic hill with his bicycle on the tough route. It was done on the eve of World Tourism Day and is an example of cycling and trekking to visit historic places.

Sai Kumar Takes Bicycle Up Madhugiri Hill
Sai Kumar was the first to do the Madhugiri hill climb with a bicycle. Unlike visitors who generally carry water and snacks during their hike, Sai Kumar had to carry and ride his bicycle on the historic hill.
He had to lift the bicycle and continue climbing on foot at several points when the steps and terrain became difficult to navigate, he said. The combination of cycling and trekking was much tougher.

The expedition was undertaken in connection with World Tourism Day, which is observed every year to highlight tourism, travel and the cultural and historical significance of destinations around the world.
