Uttar Pradesh: Couple and Two Children Among 5 Killed as Speeding Garib Rath Express Rams Bike in Shahjahanpur

The devastating accident occurred around 6:30 PM on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, near the Atsaliya crossing in the Roza police station area. A family of five, all traveling on a single motorcycle, was attempting to cross the tracks when they were hit by the Saharasa-Amritsar Garib Rath Express, which was reportedly running nearly two hours behind schedule.

The victims have been identified as residents of Vanka village in Lakhimpur Kheri district. They were returning home after a shopping trip at a weekly local market.

  • Hariom (26/45): Who was operating the motorcycle.
  • Sethpal (32/40): Hariom's relative/brother-in-law.
  • Pooja (26/38): Sethpal's wife.
  • Two Children: Identified as a 4-year-old girl (Nidhi) and a 1.5-year-old boy (Surya).

The Collision

According to eyewitnesses and police reports, the motorcycle became stuck or stalled on the tracks just as the Lucknow-bound train approached. The impact was so severe that the motorcycle was dragged for nearly 500 meters along the tracks. All five occupants died instantly at the scene.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi and teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP) reached the spot immediately. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved families and directed district officials to ensure all possible assistance is provided to the relatives of the deceased.
