Tamil superstar Vijay, who recently announced his departure from cinema to focus on politics through his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, is now facing personal challenges as his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam has approached the court with fresh petitions. While divorce proceedings are already underway, Sangeetha has filed an interim application in the Chengalpattu District Court seeking permission to continue residing in Vijay’s Neelankarai residence until the case reaches its conclusion.

On February 22, Sangeetha filed for divorce under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, citing irreconcilable differences. She alleged that Vijay was involved in an affair with another actress, which she had attempted to resolve but failed. Following this, she has now submitted an interim petition under Sections 27(1)(a)(b)(d), 36, and 37 of the Act.
In her plea, Sangeetha requested that she be allowed to stay in the marital home or be provided with equivalent accommodation until the divorce case is finalized. She emphasized that she has no alternative residence that matches Vijay’s status and lifestyle.

The property in question is located at 36, Casuarina Drive, Sri Kapaleeswar Nagar, Neelankarai, Chennai. This residence has been the family home for Vijay and Sangeetha throughout their 26-year marriage. It is also where their children, Jason Sanjay (25) and Divya Sasha (20), grew up.
Sangeetha highlighted her role in managing the household and raising their children during the marriage. She argued that her long-standing contribution to the family entitles her to continue living in the same house until the divorce proceedings are settled.
