A shocking incident of public assault, reportedly stemming from a petty argument, occurred right outside the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) office in Challakere, Chitradurga district. A video of the brawl has gone viral across social media platforms.
The Incident
The victim, identified as Venkata (23), a B.Sc. student and resident of Katappanahatti, was allegedly ambushed by a group of youths. The assault took place in front of the Challakere DYSP office.
Venkata was reportedly knocked down on the road and severely beaten by a group of four to five assailants. The attack is suspected to be related to a cricket betting dispute.
Victims and Assailants Identified
The primary victim, Venkata, sustained injuries and was immediately admitted to the Challakere Taluk Hospital for treatment.
The main assailants have been identified as Santhosh, Papanna, Ajay, Govinda, and Srinivas, all residents of Chithrayanahatti, along with several others who participated in the assault.
Police Action
Upon receiving information about the incident, Challakere Police Station personnel visited the site and conducted an inspection. A case has been officially registered at the Challakere Police Station, and an investigation into the matter is currently underway to apprehend the accused and ascertain the exact motive behind the attack.
