Life & Early Name
Born in 1993 in Bhatpar Rani, Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh, Khan Sir is Faisal Khan (also spelled Faizal Khan). He was brought up in a middle-class family; his father is a contractor and his mother is a homemaker. He has an elder brother who is an officer in the Indian Army.
Education
Khan Sir completed his studies at Parmar Public School in Bhatpar Rani before moving to Allahabad University, where he got a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and later a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Geography. He had once tried to join the armed forces but failed to clear the physical test.

Khan Sir had already started off teaching in Patna’s Musallahpur Haat area and started an offline coaching centre. His big breakthrough came during the COVID-19 lockdown when he launched his YouTube channel Khan GS Research Centre, which has over 2.4 crore (24 million) subscribers today. Learning to simplify difficult topics such as history, geography, and current affairs with humor and everyday language resonated with students all over the country. His goal is affordable education for all. Khan Global Studies charges fees ranging from ₹365 to ₹30,000 so much less than most other institutes. He has also famously declared that the poor also have the right to quality education.

Khan Sir's coaching centre in Patna's Musallahpur Haat area was attacked on 2 June 2026 by 15-20 people who allegedly fired shots and vandalized the place, injuring a security guard. Khan Sir claims rival coaching institutes are behind the attack and they see him as threatening what they call a low-fee, high-results model. Police are investigating and have identified suspects.
